ARTANKARA, which aims to bring dynamism to the art markets in our country and Ankara and grows steadily, met art lovers for the sixth time with selected examples of art works from home and abroad, without sacrificing quality.

The 6th ARTANKARA International Contemporary Art Fair organized in ATO Congresium between 12-15 March, hosting 125 galleries, museums, universities, initiatives and projects to bring galleries and artists together with art lovers, and to increase artistic and aesthetic awareness through projects and interviews. In the fair, where over 1100 artists were hosted, over 4500 works came together with art lovers. ARTANKARA, which has become a more effective artistic meeting platform every year, has grown by 30 percent despite all the negativities related to the Corona virus experienced this year. The fair, which was visited by 51.400 people last year, was visited by 18.500 people despite all the negativities this year. 25 interviews, 22 events, 4 Contemporary Art Projects and 2 Social responsibility projects were held at the fair where art, artists and works of art were discussed in various dimensions.

ARTANKARA 2020 has set its theme as “Ownership” this year. “Ownership” brought the process of owning the environment with the artist's own individual understanding, the thought-provoking works he created in this context, and the ownership of the art, artist and works of art by the art institutions and the society to the agenda of the art world. The works submitted within the scope of the “Ownership” themed competition for university students organized for young people were evaluated by the selection committee and 15 of them were exhibited in the special section.

The fair, which opened with a preview on March 11, 2020, at 16:00, continued with an opening ceremony at 19:00. The awards traditionally given by the fair in 3 categories found its owners. The fair met art lovers between the hours of 12-15 March between 10:00 and 20:00.

Bilgin Aygül, chairman of the board, who gave information about the fair in the opening speeches, and Prof.Dr. Hasan Pekmezci, Fine Arts General Manager Asst. Dr. Alper Özkan, Ankara Deputy Nevzat Ceylan and Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mr. Mansur Yavaş made the opening speeches. Then the award ceremony was held. Prof. Dr. Hasan Pekmezci presented the award artists and institutions. Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mr. Mansur Yavaş awarded and the Honor Award to Eskişehir Tepebaşı Municipality, to President Mr. Ahmet Ataç for the “Institution Honor Award”, Ex-State Minister Mr. Kursad Tuzmen awarded Sculptor Mr. Metin Yurdanur for Artist “Honor Award”, ATO President Mr. Gürsel Baran awarded Hüsamettin Koçan to Baksı Museum in Bayburt, presented to Mr. Osman Dinç for “Honorary Award”.

The opening of the fair, which uses three floors of Ato Congresium, has been followed with interest in contemporary art works made with over four thousand guests.
